Giving a voice to local residents in an area overlooked, through insightful interviews, imagery and music

A university brief that required me to create a piece of moving image about the area of Hulme. Hulme, being a historically working class area, full of a rich sense of community, but subject to re-development, exclusion and imminent gentrification. It was essential to gain trust, draw on archive material and not allow the lens to intrude, but be a quiet observer.

Collaborating with five other students for this project, we contacted the Northwest Film Archive and Hulme Community Garden Centre, who allowed us to film, photograph and conduct interviews for a greater understanding of the background and current viewpoints of the people living in Hulme today.
